34th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
“THE MEMON CONVENTION”

The 34th Annual General Meeting of “All India Memon Jamat Federation” (AIMJF) was held on Sunday, 10th April, 2016 at 10.45 am in Template AC Hall, Richardson & Cruddas Ltd, Byculla, Mumbai.

Meeting was attended by 600 (approx) members, including prominent members of community + Office Bearers, Board Members, Zonal Secretaries, NEC Members and Jamat Heads of AIMJF member Jamats from Mumbai, North Gujrat, Saurashtra, Central Gujrat, South Gujrat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu etc.

• Following Dignified Personalities attended the said Convention with their kind presence and also address the gathering with their remarkable speech

• Mr Iqbal Memon Officer (President – AIMJF) presided the meeting.
• Meeting was commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Baby Shaista and Mr Afzal Barkati offered Naat E Rasool.
• Thereafter National Anthem was played.
• Mr. Ehsan Gadawala delivered the Welcome address and greeted all the members present.
• As per Agenda Items Mr. Aziz Macchiwala (Hon. Gen Secretary) presented the minutes of last AGM and Audited Statement of Accounts for the year 2015/16 which was unanimously approved by the members present.
• Following 9 New Jamats were approved as a member Jamat of AIMJF.

9. 9) Shirpur Memon Jamat (Shirpur, Maharashtra)

• Mr Iqbal Memon Officer presented the detailed following report of activities of AIMJF from last meeting till today (i.e. from 12/04/2015 to 10/04/2016) via Documentary Film including present status of our community living in dilapidated houses, Women Empowerment, Health Issues etc.
• Thereafter the Zakat & Donation Appeal with Photos of Housing Structure was launched by the hands of respected foreign delegates viz Sir Iqbal Sacranie (London), Mr Yakub Pochi (USA), Mr Saleem Abdul Cader (Sri Lanka), Mr Shiraz Yunus (Sri Lanka), Mr Yusuf Japanwala (Japan) & All the Board Members of AIMJF and distributed to all the members present.
• Mr Iqbal Memon Officer stated that our community is a peace loving community and we try our best to help and assist the people or atleast refrain that no one should be harmed by ourself. He requested all to take the Oath “WE COUNTER TERRORISM” and all took the Oath accordingly. As there was a big gathering from all over India and the electronic and press media covered the whole event. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Police Commissioner of Mumbai appreciated this effort of AIMJF
• In post Lunch session Memon Anthem was inaugurated by the hands of Shri Pravin Dixit (DGP).
• Souvenir containing activities of AIMJF was also launched by the hands of Shri Pravin Dixit (DGP)

Miss Sana Chasmawala conveyed Vote of Thanks and expressed her gratitude to all the members present on-behalf of AIMJF for making this Convention of AIMJF a grand success.

The meeting was ended at 10.30 pm.

Resolutions

Resolutions were motioned, approved and accepted by the members present

• RESOLUTION (1) :- JAMAT MEMBERSHIP FEES Rs.1,000/- Per Annum

Mrs Sheherbanoo Gullar stated that the activities of AIMJF is expanding day by day and office is functioning @ full fledge basis and the Yearly Jamat membership Fees to AIMJF is very less i.e. Rs.10/- pa

Hence she suggested to increase the same to Rs.1,000/- pa to support the administrative expenses of AIMJF and the following Resolution was motioned by her accordingly.



Resolved : that to increase the yearly membership Fees of Jamat from Rs.10/- pa to Rs.1,000/- pa so as to support the administrative expenses of AIMJF.

• RESOLUTION (2) :- MEMON DAY – 11th April every year

Mr Gulam Mohammed suggested to celebrate the ‘Memon Day’

He further stated that on 9th, 10th & 11th April, 1971 a grand convention was organized in Baroda under the Chairmanship of Late Yusuf Patel (Baba E Qaum). On 09/04/1971 Baroda Memon Jamatkhana premises was inaugurated. On 10/04/1971 a grand convention was held to discuss to bring about all Memon Jamat on single platform and on 11/04/1971 AIMJF was established and 60 Jamats were affiliated with AIMJF.

Hence he proposed to celebrate MEMON DAY every year on 11th April and the following Resolution was motioned by him accordingly.



Resolved : that to celebrate MEMON DAY every year on 11th April to mark dignity of our community and to organize charity causes on said day i.e. Distribution of Food Packets in Hospital, Seminar, conduct all possible events for the upliftment and betterment of our community on said day.

• RESOLUTION (3) :- ALL MEMON JAMAT AFFILIATION TO AIMJF TO FOLLOW RULES

Dr Amin Bhabha stated that there are many wrong practices persisting in our community. Hence he suggested that AIMJF should formulate the rules & regulations under the guidance of Islamic Shariah which has to be strictly adopted by Jamat for the betterment of our community at large and the following Resolution was motioned by him accordingly.

He further stated that AIMJF should formulate draft and policies accordingly which has to be endorse by Jamat.



Resolved : that all Members Jamats of AIMJF should abide by the rules & regulations formulated by AIMJF under the guidance of Islamic Shariah which has to be strictly adopted by Jamat for the betterment of our community at large and the draft and policies formulated by AIMJF should be endorse by Jamat.

Shri Devendra Fadnavis (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra) arrived at 8.30 pm from Nagpur, instead of his busy schedule, he was very kind enough to attend the Convention of AIMJF

National Anthem & Memon Anthem was played

Mr Suhail Khandwani delivered the Welcome Speech with brief introduction of AIMJF and Memon Community and greeted the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra

Thereafter, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis felicitated the following dignified personalities of our community with Outstanding Achievement Award for their Socio, Economic diversified field.
